    I absolutely enjoy the holiday season!  This time of year is filled with holiday traditions and everyone’s in good spirits.  There’s one tradition in particular that the SACVB and our hospitality community look forward to every year - the Annual Tamale Lift.  Together with our partners, we invade Austin to deliver tamales to our customers. The tamale lift started over 20 years ago and continues to grow each year.

  • Social Responsibility: Doing Good for the Greater Good.

    We are all busy and time deprived, there’s no doubt about it.  Looking back at a full week I often wonder how I made it through.  But (here it comes…) then I stop and think about the difference each of us could make in our communities and how rewarding it can be to know that you’ve helped.  We each have a responsibility to give back and leave the world a better place than we found it.  And it doesn’t take much time to make an impact.

  • Great Services. Great Return.

    I had the wonderful opportunity to speak to 150 convention service managers during the National Celebrate Services Day event at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Thursday, August 25th.  The morning was filled with well wishes and thank you's to those that do not often get recognized.  Convention service managers play one of the most important roles in the industry because their job performance directly impacts our economy. When clients are provided the best service, the likelihood of them returning to our city again is high.
