Staff worked with Volaris Airlines - Mexico, Adnova  Communications and State of Texas-Tourism in hosting the Volaris Airlines inaugural flight for Mexico City to San Antonio on September 15. This increases the airline’s direct non-stop flights into San Antonio from Guadalajara and Mexico City. Tourism staff hosted eight top travel-trade offices from Mexico City, in addition to four media with the Communications team. Destination education and promotion focused on our attraction base, culinary opportunities and events throughout the year.   Read more


Visit San Antonio: Destination Group Sales, October 2017

In September, the Destination Group Sales Division booked more than 150,000 total room nights.  With September’s room night production, the Group Sales Division achieved 101 percent of its Fiscal Year room-night goal, or 920,963 total room nights for the year.  This past month’s production included the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), which will meet in San Antonio in April 2025 and bring more than 6,000 attendees.  The team also booked the National Society of Black Engineers, which will bring more than 10,000 attendees to our city in March 2020.     Read more

It’s no secret that San Antonio is one of the top destinations in the state, and we were happy to be able to showcase our city a few weeks ago when we welcomed the Texas Legislative Black Caucus for its annual meeting. This important group of legislators make up key figures within both the House and the Senate. At the reception overlooking the Alamo, we were able to deepen our relationships with Rep. Alma Allen and Rep. Dutton (House Committee on Public Education) and Chairwoman Giddings (Vice-Chair, House State Affairs). We were also joined by representatives from City Public Service, Andrade-Van de Putte, Texas Association for Business and Tax Free Shopping, among others.   Read more

Destination Services has integrated augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) into prior-year promotions.  The next best thing to reading and looking at pictures about a destination is to experience it through such technology.  How better to explain what it is like to take a barge ride or to show the big fish under Interstate Highway 37 going to Pearl or to view our transformed Henry B. González Convention Center. The Communications Department secured $610,755 in outer-market earned-media value in September. We’re delighted to report that we beat our fiscal year earned-media value goal of $33.6 million, securing a total of $34,107,941. This value represents fantastic coverage for San Antonio and our partners, and maintains the destination as top of mind for visitors worldwide. Coverage in major outlets included El Universal (Mexico), Parents Magazine, Correio Popular (Brazil), Meetings & Conventions Magazine and Exhibitor Online.   Read more
