Countdown to Kidcation Week!

The San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau is so excited about Kidcation Week! We are thrilled to work with our partners to turn San Antonio into a citywide playground for the first time!

As a parent of two little ones, I am personally excited that there is a full week of planned, affordable activities for our family to experience. The Matej's will be enjoying a wide variety of the offerings during Kidcation Week – from the free movies in Hemisfair Park to the exciting deals at many of our museums. Even my daughter, Ellie Mae, was excited to spread the word about Kidcation Week this past weekend at the Witte! If you haven’t already done so, be sure and check out for all of the details on the great deals that you and your entire family can enjoy!

The Kidcation Week initiative was so well received by our partners that many of you decided to extend the offers for the entire month of August – we thank you for that! From a business perspective, Kidcation Week is a great way to highlight a week that is typically a little softer than others since the summer traveling season is coming to an end. We, the CVB, aim to look at need periods to assist in drawing visitors to our city to help our partners and the local economy. We will be keeping a close eye on the data and results and will plan on sharing more with you in an upcoming September blog!

We have also been busy getting the word out about this exciting week. Our communication team has been on the road promoting Kidcation Week, People en Espanol Festival, the SAVE Program and much more in the Rio Grande Valley, Waco, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Houston and Austin. Check out one of the clips here; and hopefully, you saw the fun and innovative Kidcation Week Activity Sheet ad in Texas Monthly!

So…we have just a few requests! Please plan on joining us for the official Kidcation Week Kickoff Festival at 9:30 a.m. in Hemisfair Park on Monday, August 12; feel free to bring your kiddos! Secondly, help us spread the word about Kidcation Week on your social media platforms. The special hashtag for the week is #kidcation. Finally, if you’re not a part of Kidcation Week this year, start planning now for 2014!

As always, we want to hear from you! If you have any ideas on future initiatives, have questions or simply want to connect, feel free to contact me or our new Partner Communications Manager, Shanna Smith.

In the Heart,
