San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau Announces Several Staff Changes

Valued Hospitality Partners,

Wrapping up Kidcation Week and Festival People en Espanol, gearing up for our new campaign launch and our Annual Meeting (Oct. 29),  this season is certainly a busy time of year for your San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau (SACVB). However, another thing that makes this fall season so special and exciting this year is that we will soon welcome several new faces to the SACVB family!

I am excited to officially announce that the SACVB has hired an assistant executive director. Industry veteran, Dave Krupinski, will join our organization on October 21. Dave comes to us with over 20 years of experience in the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Hotel and Transportation industries. Just prior to his appointment, he served as the vice president of tourism for the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau (DCVB), where he was responsible for cultural tourism, special event and attractions development, international strategic plans and partnership development opportunities. During his first few months, he will be focused on key projects, as well as gaining an overall understanding of SACVB operations and the landscape of the city. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in Individual Studies, Hotel / Restaurant Administration from the University of Toledo. To read Dave's full bio, click here.

I am also proud to announce that the SACVB is opening a new satellite office to increase San Antonio's brand awareness in key regional and national markets. SACVB industry veteran, Dee Dee Poteete, will relocate to Dallas / Fort Worth to run our new Regional Communication Office beginning on October 1. As the Director of Regional Communications and part of the SACVB's Marketing and Communication team, Dee Dee will promote San Antonio as a leisure and convention destination through new media relations prospects, key consumer shows and cross-promotional synergies with sports-related opportunities. Dee Dee holds a Bachelors in English Communications Arts from St. Mary's University. Dee Dee's full bio and more information about our new Regional Office can be found here.

Replacing Dee Dee Poteete as the Director of Communications will be media veteran, Richard Oliver. Richard was most recently with the San Antonio Express-News where he was a columnist, senior writer and sports editor. His new area of focus will be to manage the public relations function of the SACVB's Marketing and Communication division and to generate positive editorial exposure for San Antonio working with national and international traditional and digital media. He will start at the SACVB on September 23. Richard is a Texas A&M University graduate and is an award-winning writer. To read Richard's full bio, click here.

These exceptional individuals truly bring a wealth of knowledge, leadership and skill to our team. We know that you all will warmly welcome them to our industry family soon! As always, if you have any questions or simply want to connect, feel free to contact me or our Partner Communications Manager, Shanna Smith.
