Visit San Antonio: San Antonio in the News, January 2019

The Communications Department recorded $1,929,785 in outer-market earned media value and 47,383,005 Impact Impressions for December. Secured media represents coverage for San Antonio and our partners, which maintains the destination top of mind for visitors worldwide. Coverage recorded for the month in major outlets included Frommer’s, Austin American-Statesman, Associations Convantions & Facilities, Sale el Sol (Mexico), Ya Parate (Mexico), Excelsior (Mexico), Le Devoir (Canada), Toronto Foodies (Canada) and Nine Travel (Australia).

A great coup for San Antonio was a pair of segments on one of Mexico’s national morning TV shows, Sale el Sol.  The popular television program explored a wide range of activities in our destination including host hotel Drury Inn & Suites, San Antonio Zoo, Topgolf, iFly, Go Rio, the Spurs, La Gloria, Botika, Pearl and The Saga. 

One of the top priorities for the last couple of years has been working with social media influencers to produce editorial (non-paid) coverage of San Antonio. This is increasingly important as more and more travelers are obtaining travel inspiration from social channels and as traditional media channels are consolidating. In December, Visit San Antonio welcomed Danielle Finest of Toronto Foodies (@TOFoodies) as she explored and covered the destination. She produced more than 100 Instagram Stories posts and eight main posts that explored host hotel La Cantera Resort & Spa, La Gran Tamalada, Bakery Lorraine, Southerleigh, Carnitas Lonja, Maverick Texas Brasserie and many more local partners.
