The revitalization of Travis Park was sparked by a grant from Southwest Airlines to the City of San Antonio to support the City’s placemaking efforts and engage the local community through new physical amenities and programming. The airline, which has been proudly serving San Antonio for more than 40 years, is committed to strengthening the communities it serves and recognizes the power of strong public places.

In addition to the placemaking grant, the City has also undertaken a number of maintenance and improvement projects, which are being coordinated to enhance the park experience at Travis Park, one of the oldest municipal parks in the country.  This includes rebranding the park and the development of a calendar of regular programming and special events, such as movies and fitness in the park to attract local residents and employees.
